Visit Gulangyu Island is just like a journey travelling to the past, and few things have changed on the island since foreigners settled in Xiamen (Amoy) to do business. There are no cars on the island, and you can hike up the hill, bask on the beach, walk along the esplanade, admire colonial buildings, visit museums and taste the delicious local food. Gulangyu has a strong blend of three cultures: Christianity, Southeast Asian and Minnan from southern Fujian province, and its recently listed in UNESCO’s world cultural heritage, and be a worth-visit place in China.
